Young People's Forum

We have lots of different activities on offer, in and around the hospital for both inpatients, outpatients, and their siblings, that connects children, young people, the play team, the Young People's Forum (YPF) and our brilliant volunteers together.

With your help we can spread the word, and showcase the ways in which play and recreation, support and all the spaces that can positively impact wellbeing.

These sessions and events extend play and recreation access and take place late afternoon into early evening, some during the week and some at weekends.

This means we can offer and extend playful opportunities and time off the ward, with fun, and engaging activities, and visits where CYP can meet other CYP and the play team, have moments of joy, and fun.

We also get to work with amazing organisations and partners such as the National Portrait Gallery, Spread a Smile, and Radio Lollipop, to name just a few.

How we support patient experiences at GOSH

Making a difference to babies, children, young people and their families is so important as we support them during their time visiting or staying in hospital, and its also a really good way of connecting, understanding and learning how we can impact their patient experience in a positive way, and provide a platform for them to share their experiences and have a space where they can have their voices heard.

If you have a patient who isn't able to come along to any of the regular events off the ward, please reach out to our Volunteers team who will do their very best to arrange a visit from either colleagues from Radio Lollipop, The Giggle Doctors, Spread a Smile, Therapy Dogs or The Weekend club.

Young Peoples Advisory Group (YPAG) for Research

What: For patients aged between 10 to 21 years old, and who are interested in medicine, research and science. Some of our group have health conditions and have experience of participating in clinical trials. We meet six times a year to advise researchers on their work. Researchers who are planning to undertake health research with children and young people can make arrangements to visit GOSH YPAG to get input and advice on any element of their project.

GOSH YPAG members get involved in all aspects of research, from myth busting to helping us create informative videos about research, and providing voiceovers for animations about research projects at GOSH.

GOSH YPAG is part of a national network of groups called Generation R, and our group is one of 19 YPAG's around the country! They often collaborate with other YPAG's too.
