Clinical indications
Testing for rheumatoid factor is a poor screening procedure for juvenile idiopathic arthritis and of supportive diagnostic value only in the highly restricted population of older children with polyarticular arthritis (positive in up to 33%). Poor prognostic feature. Levels do not correlate with disease activity. Also found in many other connective tissue and inflammatory diseases
