Work experience and placements within the Psychological Services department

We receive numerous requests relating to work experience and placements within our department.  Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate all of these requests.The only placements that we are able to offer are to those who meet the following criteria:

• Undergraduates who are undertaking a Psychology Honours degree which incorporates a placement year as part of the degree (i.e. a ‘sandwich’ course). Interested students apply through a competitive process of application and interviews. Our department can usually accommodate 12 students each academic year.

• If this applies to you, please speak to your University placement co-ordinator to establish whether or not we already advertise potential placements at your university. If we do not, then please ask your placement co-ordinator to email us at ugpsych@gosh.nhs.uk to discuss this further. Please note that recruitment for these placements usually takes place in December/January prior to the academic year in which they begin. We are therefore unable to consider any requests for placements after this time.  
  

Unfortunately we are not able to offer any other form of placement or work experience within the department, for example during the school or university holidays or to students following the completion of their undergraduate degree.

(Please note that these conditions do not apply to placements for Trainee Clinical Psychologists on the DClinPsy courses as these placements are arranged separately via your training institution.)
