About the Dietetics department
The Dietetics department works with children and their families who have a condition where nutrition and special diets can be used as treatment. Many of these conditions result in:
- delayed growth
- poor oral intake
- inability to swallow
- increased requirements for energy (calories) and nutrients
Children referred to us are assessed to identify the most appropriate dietary management. A treatment plan is then explained to you and your child, with advice on how to carry out this plan at home.
Dietitians will also monitor your child's growth and development, ensuring that the prescribed diet and feed meets their needs.
We also contact GPs, health visitors, school nurses and other health workers who can help support you once you are at home.
