Audio transcript of Neurology and Neurosurgery video
Below is the audio transcription of the video about the Neurology and Neurosurgery departments at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Narration: The neurosciences department at Great Ormond Street Hospital provides expertise in the assessment, diagnosis and management of children with complex neurological disorders, such as epilepsy, cerebral palsy and brain tumours.
We're the largest centre for children needing brain, craniofacial surgery or head injury care in the UK. We're also one of the largest epilepsy surgery centres in Europe, carrying out almost 60 per cent of all UK operations for children with epilepsy. Both in-patient diagnosis and care and neurosurgery take place in new facilities featuring state-of-the-art equipment, such as a telemetry unit, which monitors brain activity.
Research means we can apply the most advanced MRI imaging techniques to map how nerves link up within the living brain, visualising regions essential for higher thought, language and movement, crucial to ensure our life-saving neurosurgery is as safe and successful as possible, giving children the best chance of a healthy recovery.
