Clinics and wards used by the Neurology department
Children under the care of the Neurology service may be seen in one of the following settings:
Wards
Koala Ward is a 24-bed ward located on Level 5 of the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, part of the Mittal Children's Medical Centre.
RANU (Rapid Assessment Neurology Unit) is a day case assessment unit (Level 4 Southwood Building).
Clinics
The first appointment for child and family is usually with the general Neurology clinic. After this appointment the child will be followed as required by a consultant/clinic specific service.
If your child's condition changes you should speak with your paediatrician or GP.
If your child has had any investigations such as EEGs or MRI scans, your paediatrician will need to forward copies of these to Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) when they make the original referral. The clinic appointment will be booked once this information has been received.
For your appointment, please bring the following:
- Child Health Record (red book)
list of medication and doses (it would be helpful to bring a copy of the repeat prescription if available)
Headache clinic
The Headache clinic is a specialist clinic for children with headache and migraine.
Tourette syndrome clinic
This is a multidisciplinary clinic headed by Dr Isobel Heyman (Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist), Dr Sarah Aylett (Paediatric Neurologist) and Dr Tara Murphy (Paediatric Neuropsychologist).
