The Neuroimmunology Centre at GOSH specialises in demyelinating disorders – where the myelin sheath is damaged, often by the body’s own immune system – and other nervous system disorders caused by a malfunctioning immune system that affect children and young people. In particular, the team specialise in diagnosing, assessing and treating the following conditions:
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM)
- Acute transverse myelitis (ATM)
- Optic neuritis (ON)
- Neuromyelitis optica (NMOSD) spectrum disorder (from MOG or AQP4 antibody)
- Myelin Oligodendrocyte Glycoprotein (MOG) Antibody disorders (MOGAD)
- Opsoclonus myoclonus (OMS)
- Autoimmune encephalitis
