Research and publications from the Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases Unit
The Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Team is actively involved in a range of research projects which seek to improve our understanding of inherited cardiac conditions and to identify more effective monitoring and treatment strategies in children affected by these conditions. Research that we are working on currently includes:
- Improving risk stratification in paediatric patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
- Identification of biomarkers in children with inherited cardiovascular disease
- Detailed characterisation of a number of different inherited cardiovascular diseases and disease progression trends in the paediatric population
The team includes a research fellow and a research nurse, who work on these studies on a full-time basis. The Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Research Team is part of the University College London Institute of Cardiovascular Science and the team collaborates extensively with the Inherited Cardiovascular Disease services at Bart’s Heart Centre, which oversees the care of adult patients with the same conditions.
The research work carried out by the Inherited Cardiovascular Disease Team has been generously funded by the British Heart Foundation, Max’s Foundation and the National Institute for Health Research Biomedical Research Centre.
