How to refer to Restorative Dentistry
GOSH Restorative Dentistry Acceptance Criteria
- Patients who are referred for an opinion only and who are under the care of GOSH for pre-existing medical conditions can be seen for advice and treatment planning.
- Patients who have had cancer of the mouth or oro-facial region will be seen and treated.
- Patients referred for speech prosthetics will be seen and treated.
- Patients who are under a nationally commissioned package of care (Cleft, Craniofacial) or other complex craniofacial syndromes will be seen and considered for treatment where appropriate.
- Patient with severe oro-facial trauma requiring multi-disciplinary input will be seen and considered for treatment.
- Patients with complex medical conditions that preclude them from having treatment elsewhere will be seen for advice, treatment planning and treatment if appropriate.
- Occasional referrals from the wards for inpatient management will be seen if at all possible.
- Examination of patients under General Anaesthesia (GA).
- Restorative Dentistry opinions between specialities within the department.
Additional Information
- Cases may be planned at GOSH but delivered locally where appropriate.
- Cases may be refused on the basis of insufficient complexity.
