'An Investigation into the Speech Production Skills of Children, 5 years after Cochlear Implantation'The aim of this study is to look qualitatively at the speech production skills of a group of children who have had their Cochlear implant for 5 years or more. Their speech production will be assessed and analysed qualitatively and quantitatively. This study aims to use a scoring system to begin to look at patterns that are present in the speech of implanted children once they reach certain levels of intelligibility. Two groups of children will be looked and the differences between the two groups will be examined in terms of the types of speech patterns.
This project is being carried out by the Speech and Language Therapists on the Great Ormond Street Implant Programme in conjunction with the University of London.
