Morgan Stanley and Great Ormond Street Hospital team up for charity partnership
10 Feb 2015, 9:45 a.m.
Morgan Stanley today announced a new two-year charity partnership with Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, voted for by employees following a week-long poll which included three other charities.
The new partnership will see employees aiming to raise £750,000, which will be matched by the Morgan Stanley International Foundation, to raise a total of £1.5 million. The funds raised will enable the creation of ‘Morgan Stanley House’, a new parent accommodation unit close to Great Ormond Street Hospital for the parents of children in intensive care, and in other wards across the hospital, helping to ensure that families can be close to their children during the most critical times.
Colm Kelleher, President of Institutional Securities and CEO of Morgan Stanley International, said: "Giving back to the communities in which we live and work has long been embedded in Morgan Stanley’s culture. I am very proud of the enthusiasm our London employees have shown in creating long-lasting legacies through their fundraising and volunteering efforts. Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity has a special place in our hearts, having been a charity partner of the firm previously when we helped fund the Morgan Stanley Clinical Building, which opened in 2012, and we are very excited to continue our support of this great organisation.”
Tim Johnson, Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, continued: “We are absolutely delighted that Morgan Stanley staff have chosen Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity as their new charity partner. We have a long history of working in partnership with Morgan Stanley and we are thrilled to continue our journey together. Undoubtedly, Morgan Stanley House is going to have a very significant and positive impact on the lives of families with children being cared for at Great Ormond Street Hospital.”
