Go Create! Arts and Activity Book wins Gold Award for Design
14 Nov 2013, 11:36 a.m.
Designer Vincent Harding has won a Gold Award for Design at the 2013 Institute of Medical Illustrator Awards for his work on the Go Create! Arts and Activity Book for Children and Families.
The book was created as part of a creative residency on the Great Ormond Street Hospital's (GOSH) Dinosaur Ward.
Artist Isobel Manning worked with patients at GOSH to create a number of activities suitable for children of all ages and abilities, which can be used by professionals in healthcare settings. In an innovative collaboration, the hospital’s Medical Illustration department provided the graphics and design for the book in partnership with Go Create!, the hospital’s arts programme.
Susie Hall, Head of Go Create!, said: “We’re delighted that Vincent has won the award for his work on our arts and activity book. We are incredibly proud of the book and grateful to everyone involved in this unique project. Hands-on activities provide an important and welcome distraction for patients and they also help children to develop a range of skills and improve their confidence."
