An experienced and accomplished healthcare leader, with a passion for child health and well-being, has been appointed the Deputy Chief Executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust.Nicola Grinstead has more than 15 years’ management experience in the NHS and will join GOSH from Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust where she is the Director of Operations and Performance. She has held a number of senior management positions in London teaching hospitals including at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, North West London Hospitals NHS Trust and St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust.
Nicola is passionate about helping children and young people fulfil their potential and is currently the Chair of the World Board for the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.
Welcoming the new appointment, Dr Peter Steer, chief executive of Great Ormond Street Hospital, said: “I am delighted that a leader of Nicola’s calibre has been appointed to this important role. She comes to us with a huge breadth of experience in managing transformation in large and complex hospitals and a passion for child health and well-being.
“Great Ormond Street has a rich history and a bright future but it is operating in a time of great change and challenge. Nicola joins at a critical time where we must rise to the challenge, in particular improving how we work with others across the patient pathway.”
Ms Grinstead said: “It is a privilege to be joining Great Ormond Street Hospital. I am looking forward to bringing the expertise gained from managing operations and performance in large academic hospitals to help ensure that it excels clinically and academically and remains one of the best children’s hospitals in the world.”
Ms Grinstead will join the Trust on Friday 1 April.
