NIHR GOSH BRC Academic Training Weekend

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) GOSH Biomedical Research Centre will host its 3rd National Residential Academic Training Weekend on 10-11 November 2018,. The weekend will provide an opportunity for academic trainees working with children and young people to develop their research skills and career.
The 3rd National Residential Academic Training Weekend will be held at Ashridge Business School and is open to all clinical academics working in child health.
Programme
This year’s talks will primarily focus on paediatric infection but the skills developed will be relevant to all clinical research areas.
The weekend will involve:
- A series of research talks from senior investigators.
- Facilitated interactive small group sessions led by the senior investigators, based around developing and undertaking research from design through to implementation
- Sessions on developing research proposals.
- A workshop on Team Science led by Professor Anne Ridley, Chair of The Academy of Medical Sciences working group on Team Science.
- Keynote talks from Professor Fiona Watt, the new Executive Chair of the Medical Research Council and Professor David Edwards, Consultant Neonatologist at the Evelina Children’s Hospital and Director of the Centre for the Developing Brain at King’s College London.
- A session from the NIHR Trainees Coordinating Centre (TCC) reviewing the range of awards available to suit different academic career paths.
- Opportunities to network with fellow clinical trainees and academic leaders in child health.
