Intuitive and interactive basic statistics session on understanding and interpreting p-values.
Intended for researchers in the GOSH BRC from a biological or clinical background who don't feel confident about statistical analysis, or even those who've done the ICH introductory course some time ago and would like a refresher.
- Why statistical analysis is a lot like a courtroom
- Demonstrations to visually illustrate some of the concepts behind what a p-value is
- How to depict your data
- When to use the word “significant” when writing up your results
- How to interpret p-values close to 0.05
