Robert Henderson is a Consultant at Great Ormond Street Hospital and Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Specialisms

Mr Henderson has an expertise in both surgical and genetic paediatric retinal disease.

Qualifications

Mr Henderson’s initial MD research was on the clinical and genetic aspects of Leber’s Congenital Amaurosis and early onset retinal dystrophies, and he recruited many of the original patients to the first human ocular gene therapy trial based at Moorfields. He subsequently undertook sub-speciality fellowship training in paediatric ophthalmology at the world renown Hospital for Sick Children, Toronto and Vitreo-Retinal surgical training at the Royal Victorian Eye & Ear Hospital, Melbourne before completing his training at Moorfields. He runs the inherited retinal dystrophy clinic at Great Ormond Street, and is pioneering a new dual sensory clinic for families with hearing and visual impairment.

He leads the Multi-Disciplinary Team Ocular Genetics meeting. Mr Henderson also undertakes retinal surgery in children at GOSH and adults at Moorfields
