Richard Howard
Dr Richard Howard is the Lead Clinician in the Pain Control Service and also a Consultant Anaesthetist within the Anaesthesia department at Great Ormond Street Hospital.Dr Howard's areas of interest are paediatric pain medicine and paediatric anaesthesia.
Specialisms
Dr Howard's areas of expertise include complex regional pain syndrome, localised musculoskeletal pain and chronic illness related pain with poor response to treatment.
Qualifications
Dr Howard is a fellow of both the Faculty of Pain Medicine at the Royal College of Anaesthesia in London and the Royal College of Anaesthesia itself. He is also a member of a number of societies, including the British Pain Society and International Association for the Study of Pain.
Research Interests
Dr Howard is the author of numerous peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and a lead author of nationally approved guidelines for the treatment of pain in children.
He has also presented research findings and spoken on the physiology and management of children’s pain at a variety of conferences in many parts of the world.
