Paula Thomas

I am the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital. I work alongside the Ophthalmology team within the Sight and Sound building. I’m available to all patients - new and old - and even those who haven’t quite made it to us yet but have been referred. This also includes patients who have been transferred to their local hospital, or into adult services, to ensure the patient is receiving a good level of support.

I am here to help with any questions around visual impairment. Anything that is not medical, but vision related is my forte. I’m also available to make contact with other professionals on your behalf, be that the school, liaising with your local teams or ensuring that people are talking to each other in relation to your child's vision. As well as being able to support you through the hospital system, ensuring you have all relevant information and documents, I can signpost you to specific support groups and organisations, both locally and nationally, and advise you on how to get advice regarding benefits and housing. No question is a silly one.

I am contactable at any time by email. This way I can ensure I have your child's details prior to arranging either a telephone call, meeting you face-to-face in clinic or building an email response - whatever is preferred.

Where possible, please contact me around ten days prior to your child’s upcoming appointment, if your query is specific to your child’s medical appointment. You can contact me on paula.thomas@gosh.nhs.uk.
