Marta Neil
Marta Neil is a highly specialist child and adolescent psychotherapist within the Parenting and Child Service in the Department of Child and Adolescent Mental Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Specialisms
These include: psychoanalytic psychotherapy assessment and treatment of complex trauma and attachment difficulties with children who have experienced various forms of maltreatment and neglect and who have spent time in the care system; parent-child interaction and multi-disciplinary court assessment work. Marta also has extensive clinical experience of working with children and adolescents in the in-patient unit with complex and severe mental health difficulties including eating disorders, pervasive refusal syndrome and medically unexplained physical symptoms.
Qualifications
MA, MSc, MACP
Marta has a background in teaching music having graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and from City University London. She undertook a MSc in Psychoanalytic Developmental Psychology at University College London prior to training in Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Anna Freud Centre. She is a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists.
Research Interests
Current research interests include developing a parent-child treatment programme for complex trauma, the use of the Story Stem Assessment to assess child attachment and developing an intervention programme for cases of fabricated and induced illness.
