Karyn Moshal

Dr Karyn Moshal has worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) as a Consultant in Paediatric Infectious Diseases since 2004.

I feel extraordinarily lucky to work as part of a supportive and accomplished team of professionals in Infectious Diseases. The range of patients we see and the challenges they present every day makes life constantly interesting. Being able to make a difference in children’s lives is a privilege.

Specialisms

Dr Moshal has extensive experience in paediatric HIV care and is part of the team which runs the Great Ormond Street Hospital paediatric HIV clinic, one of the largest and oldest in Western Europe (established in 1991).

She is also part of the general paediatric infectious disease team which provides both in-patient and outpatient care at GOSH, as well as infection control input and an outreach clinic service for tuberculosis and HIV across north central London.

Qualifications

Registered qualifications: MBChB, MRCPCH, MRCP(UK), DTM+H
Karyn qualified from the University of Cape Town. She completed her paediatric training in the UK and her infectious diseases training in the USA, where she did a fellowship in Paediatric Infectious Diseases at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Research Interests

Interests include HIV, malaria, tuberculosis and tropical infections.

She is also founder and executive director of CHIVA Africa, one of the few organisations focussed solely on providing critical training and support in paediatric and adolescent HIV treatment and long-term management for health professionals on the frontlines of the AIDS epidemic in Southern Africa.
