Blood Quest app

Our app Blood Quest is a finalist in two categories of the AbilityNet Tech4Good Awards, which recognise organisations and individuals using technology for real, tangible good. “With the help of the right people, technology can really help change people’s lives,” said Mark Walker, the Tech4Good Awards' Organiser.

Blood Quest is a free, beautifully illustrated iPad app we created to inform, entertain and distract patients while they’re having their blood taken, helping them to prepare for the test and alleviating anxiety. They can play the ‘quest’ game with different levels to complete, and answer quizzes about animals and their hearts. Each level lasts the length of an average blood test, and is designed to occupy the young person specifically during the procedure.

As well as the Digital Health award, which is voted for by judges, we have been nominated for the People’s Award, decided by the public, which is where YOU can help!

We need to harness as much support as possible via our webpage and hashtag before voting closes on at 5pm on Friday 7 July. Voting is a free opportunity to spread the word about the app far and wide, so more patients can benefit from using it.

To vote, please retweet this tweet, or post your own message on Twitter or Instagram and include our unique hashtag #T4GBloodQuest. You can also vote on the Tech4Good site. Thanks for your support!
