GOSH appoints medical director

Sanjiv Shaema, Medical Director

Sanjiv Sharma has been appointed on a permanent basis to the role of Medical Director at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

Sanjiv joins the Executive Team following a thorough and competitive recruitment process, having been our Acting Medical Director since December 2018.

Sanjiv first joined GOSH in 2000 as a Senior House Officer. He was appointed as a Consultant in Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care in 2009 and was Deputy Medical Director for Medical and Dental Education from January 2016.

Great Ormond Street Hospital Chief Executive, Mat Shaw said: “It was a very competitive field for the role, and I'd like to thank everyone for the passion and commitment they've shown to the recruitment process. I’m very pleased that Sanjiv is joining the GOSH executive management team on a permanent basis now and look forward to continuing to work with him in this role.”

I'm looking forward to shaping the teams in the Medical Directorate over the coming months and to supporting our clinical services, education and cutting-edge innovation in child health.”
