Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) has appointed Camilla Kingdon as a new Non-Executive Director. Dr Kingdon was previously an Associate Non-Executive Director and took up her role as a substantive Non-Executive Director on 1 January 2025.

Dr Kingdon will join six other Non-Executive Directors on the Trust Board, who collectively contribute to developing the Trust’s strategy, monitoring its performance and representing GOSH externally. She has been appointed as the Board Sustainability Champion and will chair the Quality, Safety and Experience Assurance Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee.

Dr Kingdon is a paediatrician by background and has practiced as a consultant neonatologist in the UK for over two decades. She has a particular interest in neonatal nutrition and established the Human Milk Bank at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust before going to work with the National Institute of Clinical Excellence on the development of guidelines on donor milk banks.

Dr Kingdon has recently stepped down as President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), a role she took up in 2021 having previously been a member of their Board of Trustees. In this role her focus was on recruitment and retention of the paediatric workforce, and on child health advocacy with a particular emphasis on addressing health inequalities, climate change and children’s mental health.

In addition to her medical work, Dr Kingdon is part of the National Advisory Group for the Humber and North Yorkshire ICP Futures Group and is a member of the Centre for Young Lives Advisory Board.

Commenting on her new appointment, Dr Kingdon said: “It is a privilege to join the Board at GOSH. This is a centre of excellence for children and young people’s health, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to continue to advocate for them and help GOSH deliver the very best care it can to all of its patients.”

Ellen Schroder, Chair of the Hospital, said: “We are delighted to have Camilla on our Board. I am looking forward to the contribution she can make drawing on her experience as a consultant neonatologist, currently at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, and as a former President of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health. She is passionate about advocating for children and young people both in and outside the Boardroom and this will, I am sure, help us further advance care for children and young people with complex illness so they can fulfil their potential.”
