Entry requirements
Interested applicants will need to be financially supported by their home organisation and will have to meet our entry requirements before being accepted onto the programme.
Please note that GOSH does not provide scholarships or funding for this scheme and you must meet our entry requirements for consideration.
Entry requirements for the International Medical Fellowship Programme:
- Have funding agreed with your home organisation to commit to a placement fee. Please note, GOSH does not provide scholarships for this programme.
- A medical degree that is acceptable to the UK General Medical Council (GMC).
- Have four years or more of specialty training at the time of entry.
- Part 1 College Exam (or equivalent to UK version).
- Have a postgraduate qualification in their chosen specialty, such as Membership or Fellowship of a United Kingdom Royal College, or an equivalent relevant postgraduate qualification from their home country.
- Be in full time clinical work for the year directly prior to their Fellowship start date and to have been in clinical work for a minimum of three out of the five years prior to commencing the Fellowship.
- Passed the International English Language Test System (IELTS) or Occupational English Test (OET) within two years prior to the point of applying for the GMC.
- For IELTS a score of at least 7.0 in each of the academic tests (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and a score of 7.5 or above overall.
- For OET a grade B or above in each testing area (speaking, listening, reading and writing).
- Be a resident and living overseas at the time of applying.
- Be willing to return to their home country after their Visa expires.
- Alternatively, candidates may apply if they are already registered with the GMC and have, or will have, completed at least four years of specialty training.
