Simulator of the Month, September 2017: Jane Burgering
29 Sep 2017, 4:29 p.m.
Jane Burgering is a Practice Educator for Neonates on Squirrel Ward who runs in situ simulation training sessions twice a week.
After attending a course on debriefing, Jane put her new-found skills into practice by organising simulation sessions. Here, candidates go through a clinical scenario with a manikin, then are given feedback by Jane and are allowed to re-run the scenario, usually resulting in significant improvement in performance.
Jane has made continued progress over the last 6 months in educating a new wave of nurses and healthcare assistants with simulation and while doing so, laying the foundations for a hospital culture which is more open to choosing simulation as a method of education.
Jane’s sessions on Squirrel Ward run every Wednesday and Thursday.
