International Paediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops Conference
3 Jun 2017, 3:39 p.m.
Liz Akers, Richard Paget and Amy Leonard attended the International Paediatric Simulation Symposia and Workshops Conference in Boston in June, which joined global experts in the world’s largest meeting dedicated exclusively to paediatric and perinatal simulation. They participated in three days of in-depth discussion on the role simulation plays to provide safe and effective care to sick children, and the continued evolution and expansion of paediatric simulation.
Liz presented ‘When a Child Dies; simulating the death of an infant: key practical and communication skills’, which generated lots of discussion surrounding the need for simulation in relation to the deaths of child patients. Amy gave a poster presentation on ‘Engaging undergraduate nurses in simulation prior to placement to enhance emotional resilience’ where they found that across the world hospitals are having the same challenges in regards to emotional resilience of their undergraduate nurses’.
