Meet the Volunteer Services team

The Volunteer Services team not only recruits, trains and prepares volunteers for their roles, we also monitor and evaluate the work of volunteers and measure the impact of the services, including what difference volunteers make to the lives of individual patients and families.

We aim to raise awareness of hospital volunteering within the community, to give local people an opportunity to become actively involved in their local hospital and support its specialist features.

"It's my role to develop volunteering services across the Trust. This includes liaising with external organisations to develop our profile and create lots of amazing opportunities for our volunteers. I also help secure additional funding for projects and often give keynote speeches and presentations at conferences and training sessions.

"My role is to recruit, develop and support a robust and diverse team of dedicated volunteers who are then placed in an appropriate role within the hospital. Here they will support staff to ensure a high quality of service is delivered to the patients and their families.

"My role is to manage the recruitment process for the hundreds of new volunteers. This entails supporting individuals to complete all the necessary training and inductions procedures as quickly and painlessly as possible. I also manage some of the projects and services, such as the Therapy Dog programme and visiting artists.

"Our roles are to develop fun activities for children who are in the hospital on the weekend. We have a huge team of committed volunteers who help in running the activities club.

"It’s wonderful to be working closely with volunteers and we particularly enjoy seeing how much the children engage with them."

This special group of volunteers work closely with Jamie, Ajay, Kala, Anna and Naomi - they help with the recruitment and placement of volunteers. Usually assisting with reception and admin duties, including managing the volunteer database and assisting with recruitment procedures.
